Jami' al-Tirmidhi · Hadith 3004

حدثنا علي بن حجر، أخبرنا شريك، عن أبي ربيعة، عن ابن بريدة، عن أبيه، رفعه قال ‏"‏ يا علي لا تتبع النظرة النظرة فإن لك الأولى وليست لك الآخرة ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قال أبو عيسى هذا حديث حسن غريب لا نعرفه إلا من حديث شريك ‏.‏

Narrated Ibn Buraidah: from his father (from the Prophet (ﷺ)) who said: "O 'Ali! Do not follow a look with a look, the first is for you, but the next is not for you."
