حدثنا قتيبة، حدثنا الليث، عن ابن عجلان، عن سعد بن إبراهيم، عن أبي سلمة، عن عائشة، قالت قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏ قد كان يكون في الأمم محدثون فإن يك في أمتي أحد فعمر بن الخطاب ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قال أبو عيسى هذا حديث حسن صحيح ‏.‏ قال حدثني بعض أصحاب سفيان قال قال سفيان بن عيينة محدثون يعني مفهمون ‏.‏

Narrated 'Aishah: that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Among the nations, there used to be Muhaddathun (those who were given understanding), and if there were one in my nation, it would be 'Umar bin Al-Khattab."
