Sahih Muslim · Hadith 3812

وحدثنا يحيى بن يحيى، وأبو بكر بن أبي شيبة وعمرو الناقد وزهير بن حرب - واللفظ ليحيى - قال يحيى أخبرنا وقال الآخرون، حدثنا سفيان بن عيينة، عن الزهري، عن عروة، عن عائشة، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال ‏"‏ لا يحل لامرأة تؤمن بالله واليوم الآخر أن تحد على ميت فوق ثلاث إلا على زوجها ‏"‏ ‏.‏

'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: It is not permissible for a woman believing in Allah and the Hereafter to observe mourning on the dead for more than three (days), except in case of her husband.
