حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة، وأبو كريب قالا حدثنا ابن نمير، عن هشام، عن أبيه، عن عائشة، أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال ‏"‏ الحمى من فيح جهنم فابردوها بالماء ‏"‏ ‏.‏

'A'isha reported Allah's messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: Fever is from the vehement raging of the Hell-fire, so cool it with water.
