Sunan Abi Da'ud · Hadith 2192

حدثنا ابن السرح، حدثنا ابن وهب، عن يحيى بن عبد الله بن سالم، عن عبد الرحمن بن الحارث المخزومي، عن عمرو بن شعيب، عن أبيه، عن جده، أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال في هذا الخبر زاد ‏"‏ ولا نذر إلا فيما ابتغي به وجه الله تعالى ذكره ‏"‏ ‏.‏

The above tradition has also been transmitted by ‘Amr bin Shu’aib through a different chain of narrators. This version adds The Prophet (ﷺ) said “There is no vow except in an act which seeks the pleasure of Allah, the Exalted.
