Sunan Abi Da'ud · Hadith 3393

حدثنا قتيبة بن سعيد، عن مالك، عن ربيعة بن أبي عبد الرحمن، عن حنظلة بن قيس، أنه سأل رافع بن خديج عن كراء الأرض، فقال نهى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عن كراء الأرض فقلت أبالذهب والورق فقال أما بالذهب والورق فلا بأس به ‏.‏

Hanzalah ibn Qays said that he asked Rafi' ibn Khadij about the lease of land. He replied: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade the leasing of land. I asked: (Did he forbid) for gold and silver (i.e. dinars and dirhams)? He replied: If it is against gold and silver, then there is no harm in it.
