Sunan Abi Da'ud · Hadith 5011

حدثنا مسدد، حدثنا أبو عوانة، عن سماك، عن عكرمة، عن ابن عباس، قال جاء أعرابي إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فجعل يتكلم بكلام فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏ إن من البيان سحرا وإن من الشعر حكما ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: A desert Arab came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and began to speak. Thereupon the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: In eloquence there is magic and in poetry there is wisdom.
