Sunan Abi Da'ud · Hadith 5196

حدثنا إسحاق بن سويد الرملي، حدثنا ابن أبي مريم، قال أظن أني سمعت نافع بن يزيد، قال أخبرني أبو مرحوم، عن سهل بن معاذ بن أنس، عن أبيه، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم بمعناه زاد ثم أتى آخر فقال السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته ومغفرته فقال ‏"‏ أربعون ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قال ‏"‏ هكذا تكون الفضائل ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Narrated Mu'adh ibn Anas: (This version is same as previous No 5176 from the Prophet (ﷺ), adding that): Afterwards another man came and said: Peace and Allah's mercy, blessings and forgiveness be upon you! whereupon he said: Forty. adding: Thus are excellent qualities rewarded.
