Sunan Ibn Majah · Hadith 3226

حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة، حدثنا عيسى بن يونس، عن عمر بن سعيد بن أبي حسين، عن عثمان بن أبي سليمان، عن علقمة بن نضلة، قال توفي رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وأبو بكر وعمر وما تدعى رباع مكة إلا السوائب من احتاج سكن ومن استغنى أسكن ‏.‏

It wasnarrated that ‘Alqamah bin Nadlah said: “The Messenger ofAllah(ﷺ), Abu Bakr and ‘Umar died, and the houses in Makkah werestillcalled free. Whoever needed to, lived there, and whoever had noneedof them allowed others to live there (without asking for rent).”
