Chapter 14 | Remembering Death and the Grave
10.Faḍālah narrated from Ismāʿīl ibn Abī Ziyād, from Abū ʿAbdillāh , from his father who said, “ʿAlī said, ‘He who counts his morrow as part of his lifetime has not given death its due status!’ ʿAlī also said, ‘A servant does not lengthen his [worldly] aspiration but that he ends up doing evil deeds [to achieve his goal].’ And he used to say, ‘If the servant were to see his death and how quickly it is approaching him, he would have loathed [worldly] aspiration and seeking the world.’”
