The Book of Divine Unity · Hadith 358 (#Ḥadīth #7)

7 - حدثنا محمد بن موسى بن المتوكل رحمه الله قال: حدثنا عبد الله بن جعفر، عن أحمد بن محمد، عن الحسن بن محبوب، قال: حدثني مقاتل بن سليمان، قال: سألت جعفر بن محمد عليهما السلام، عن قول الله عز وجل: (الرحمن على العرش استوى) فقال: استوى من كل شئ، فليس شئ أقرب إليه من شئ.

7. Muhammad ibn Musa ibn al-Mutawakkil said: `Abd Allah ibn Ja`far said, on the authority of Ahmad ibn Muhammad, on the authority of al-Hasan ibn Mahbub that Maqatil ibn Sulayman related to me that I asked Ja`far ibn Muhammad about the Word of Allah, the Mighty and High: The Most Compassionate is firm on the Empyrean, so he replied, “He is equal in distance to everything. Therefore, He is not closer to one thing than to another.”
