Chapter 52 | The Meaning of `His Knowledge Extend over the Heavens and the Earth’

2. My father said: `Ali ib Ibrahim said, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Ibn Abu `Umayr, on the authority of `Abd Allah ibn Sinan that Abu `Abd Allah al-Sadiq was asked to interpret the Word of Allah, the Mighty and High: His knowledge extends over the heaves and the earth.’ He said: “The heavens and the earth, and whatever is between them, are in the Throne [al-kursi], and the Empyrean [al-`arsh] is the Knowledge (of Allah) over which no one has power.”
