3. My father narrated to me from Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā, and from Aḥmad ibn Idrīs, from ‘Amraki ibn ‘Ali, from Yaḥyā – who was the servant of Imam Abī Ja’far the Second (Imam Jawād ), from Muḥammad ibn Sinān, from Bashīr Al-Dahhān, who said: I heard Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq ) in Ḥīrah (speaking) to a group of Shia surrounding him. He turned his face toward me and asked, “O Bashīr! Did you go for Hajj last year?” I replied, “May I sacrifice myself for you! No, but instead I spent the Day of ‘Arafah next to the Grave – referring to the grave of Ḥusain .” Imam said, “O Bashīr! I swear to Allāh that you did not miss anything (from the blessings) that were in Makkah for those who were there.” I said, “May I sacrifice myself for you! Explain this to me, for (the blessing of being in) ‘Arafāt is (only available) in Makkah.” Imam replied: O Bashīr! Verily every time one of you raises his foot or places it down walking toward the grave of Ḥusain while knowing his rights, after performing Ghusl on the shores of the Euphrates (River), Allāh will give you (the reward of) one hundred accepted Hajj and one hundred purified ‘Umrah and (the reward of) fighting in a hundred battles with one of Allāh’s messengers against His enemies and the enemies of the Messenger.
