The Dictations · Hadith 102 (#Ḥadīth #1)

1 - حدثنا الشيخ الجليل أبو جعفر محمد بن علي بن الحسين بن موسى ابن بابويه القمي، قال: حدثنا جعفر بن علي بن الحسن بن علي بن عبد الله بن المغيرة الكوفي، قال: حدثنا جدي الحسن بن علي، عن جده عبد الله بن المغيرة، عن إسماعيل بن أبي زياد، عن الصادق جعفر بن محمد، عن أبيه، عن آبائه (عليهم السلام)، قال: قال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) لاصحابه: ألا أخبركم بشئ إن أنتم فعلتموه تباعد الشيطان منكم كما تباعد المشرق من المغرب؟ قالوا: بلى. قال: الصوم يسود وجهه، والصدقة تكسر ظهره، والحب في الله والمؤازرة على العمل الصالح يقطعان دابره، والاستغفار يقطع وتينه (1)، ولكل شئ زكاة وزكاة الابدان الصيام (2).

Abu Ja`far Muhammad b. Ali b. al-Husayn b. Musa b. Babuwayh al-Qummi narrated to us. He said: Ja`far b. `Ali b. al-Hasan b. `Ali b. `Abdullah b. al-Mughira al-Kufi narrated to us. He said: My grandfather al-Hasan b. `Ali narrated to us from his grandfather Abdullah b. al-Mughira from Isma`il b. Abi Ziyad from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from his forefathers . He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said to his companions: Should I not tell you something, that if you do it, Satan would be as far away from you as the East is from the West? They said: Of course. He said: Fasting blackens his face, charity breaks his back, loving for the sake of Allah and putting an effort into performing righteous deeds cuts his tail, and repentance cuts his artery. Everything has a purifier, and the purifier of the bodies is fasting.
