The Dictations · Hadith 140 (#Ḥadīth #13)

13 - حدثنا أبي ومحمد بن الحسن (رحمه الله)، قالا: حدثنا سعد بن عبد الله، عن موسى بن الحسن، والحسن بن علي، عن أحمد بن هلال، عن محمد بن أبي عمير، عن جعفر بن عثمان، عن سماعة بن مهران، قال: قلت لابي عبد الله (عليه السلام) في المغرب: إنا ربما صلينا ونحن نخاف أن تكون الشمس خلف الجبل، أو قد سترها منا الجبل؟ فقال: ليس عليك صعود الجبل (1).

My father and Muhammad b. al-Hasan narrated to us. They said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to us from Musa b. al-Hasan and al-Hasan b. `Ali from Ahmad b. Hilal from Muhammad b. Abi `Umayr from Ja`far b. `Uthman from Sama`a b. Mehran. He said: I said to Abi `Abdillah regarding Maghrib: We prayed, but we fear that the Sun was behind the mountain, and that the mountain had hid it from us. So, he said: You do not need to climb the mountain.
