The Dictations · Hadith 194 (#Ḥadīth #5)

5 - حدثنا أبي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا عبد الله بن الحسن المؤدب، عن أحمد بن علي الاصبهاني، عن إبراهيم بن محمد الثقفي، قال: حدثنا محمد بن علي الكوفي، عن سليمان بن عبد الله الهاشمي، عن محمد بن سنان، عن المفضل، عن جابر الجعفي، قال: سمعت جابر بن عبد الله الانصاري يقول: سمعت رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) يقول لعلي بن أبي طالب (عليه السلام): يا علي، أنت أخي ووصيي ووارثي، وخليفتي على امتي في حياتي وبعد وفاتي، محبك محبي، ومبغضك مبغضي، وعدوك عدوي، ووليك وليي (1).

My father narrated to us. He said: `Abdullah b. al-Hasan al-Mu’addab narrated to us from Ahmad b. `Ali al-Isfahani from Ibrahim b. Muhammad al-Thaqafi. He said: Muhammad b. `Ali al-Kufi narrated to us from Sulayman b. `Abdullah al-Hashimi from Muhammad b. Sinan from al-Mufaddal from Jabir al-Ju`fi. He said: I heard Jabir b. `Abdullah al-Ansari say: I heard the Messenger of Allah (s) say to `Ali b. Abi Talib : O `Ali! You are my brother, my deputy, and my inheritor. You are my vicegerent over my Nation in my lifetime and after my passing. Those who love you love me, and those who hate you hate me. Your enemies are my enemies, and your friends are my friends.
