The Dictations · Hadith 222 (#Ḥadīth #6)

222 / 6 - حدثنا أحمد بن محمد بن يحيى العطار (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا أبي محمد بن يحيى، قال: حدثنا محمد بن أحمد بن يحيى بن عمران الاشعري، عن الحسن بن الحسين اللؤلؤي، عن الحسن بن علي بن أبي عثمان، عن علي بن المغيرة، عن أبي عمارة (1) المنشد، عن أبي عبد الله (عليه السلام)، قال: قال لي: يا أبا عمارة، أنشدني في الحسين بن علي (عليهما السلام)، قال: فأنشدته فبكى، ثم أنشدته فبكى، قال: فوالله ما زلت أنشده ويبكي حتى سمعت البكاء من الدار، قال: فقال لي: يا أبا عمارة، من أنشد في الحسين بن علي (عليهما السلام) فأبكى خمسين فله الجنة، ومن أنشد في الحسين شعرا فأبكى ثلاثين فله الجنة، ومن أنشد في الحسين فأبكى عشرين فله الجنة، ومن أنشد في الحسين فأبكى عشرة فله الجنة، ومن أنشد في الحسين فأبكى واحدا فله الجنة، ومن أنشد في الحسين فبكى فله الجنة، ومن أنشد في الحسين فتباكى فله الجنة (2).

Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Yahya al-`Attar narrated to us. He said: Abu Muhammad b. Yahya narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Ahmad b. Yahya b. `Imran al-Ash`ari narrated to us from al-Hasan b. al-Husayn al Lu’lu’i from al-Hasan b. `Ali b. Abu `Uthman from `Ali b. al Mughirah from Abu `Imarah al-Munshid from Abu `Abdillah . He said: He said to me: O Abu `Imarah! Recite [an elegy] about al-Husayn b. `Ali . He said: So, I recited it and he wept. Then I recited [again] and he wept. He said: By Allah! I had not ceased to recite it and make him weep until I heard the lamentation from the house. He said: So, he said to me: O Abu `Imarah! Whoever recites about al-Husayn b. `Ali and makes fifty people weep, for him is Paradise. And whoever recites poetry about al-Husayn and makes thirty people weep, for him is Paradise. And whoever recites about al-Husayn and makes twenty people weep, for him is Paradise. And whoever recites about al-Husayn and makes ten people weep, for him is Paradise. And whoever recites about al-Husayn and makes a single person weep, for him is Paradise. And whoever recites about al-Husayn and weeps, for him is Paradise. And whoever recites about al-Husayn and feigns crying, for him is Paradise.
