The Dictations · Hadith 268 (#Ḥadīth #6)

6 - حدثنا محمد بن موسى بن المتوكل (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا علي بن الحسين السعد آبادي، عن أحمد بن محمد بن خالد، عن أبيه، عن صفوان بن يحيى، عن محمد بن أبي الهزهاز، عن علي بن السري، قال: سمعت أبا عبد الله الصادق (عليه السلام) يقول: إن الله عز وجل جعل أرزاق المؤمنين من حيث لم يحتسبوا، وذلك أن العبد إذا لم يعرف وجه رزقه كثر دعاؤه (2).

Muhammad b. Musa b. al-Mutawakkil narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. al-Husayn al-Sa`d Abadi narrated to us from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Khalid from his father from Safwan b. Yahya from Muhammad b. Abi’l Hajhaz from `Ali b. al-Sirri. He said: I heard Aba `Abdillah al-Sadiq say: Surely, Allah put the sustenance of the believers in places that he does not expect. This is because, if a servant does not know where to find his sustenance, he increases in his supplications.
