The Dictations · Hadith 283 (#Ḥadīth #4)

4 - حدثنا الحسين بن أحمد بن إدريس (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا أحمد بن محمد بن عيسى، عن عبد الرحمن بن أبي نجران، عن المفضل بن صالح، عن جابر ابن يزيد الجعفي، عن أبي جعفر محمد بن علي الباقر (عليه السلام)، قال: إن موسى بن عمران (عليه السلام) قال: يا رب، رضيت بما قضيت، تميت الكبير وتبقي الطفل الصغير، فقال الله جلاله: يا موسى، أما ترضاني لهم رازقا وكفيلا؟ قال: بلى يا رب، فنعم الوكيل أنت، ونعم الكفيل (2).

Al-Husayn b. Ahmad b. Idris narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Muhammad b. `Isa narrated to us from `Abd al-Rahman b. Abi Najran from al-Mufaddal b. Salih from Jabir b. Yazid al-Ju`fi from Abi Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali al-Baqir . He said: Musa b. `Imran said: O Lord! I am pleased with what You have decided, but You cause adults to die and leave behind their young children. So, Allah said: O Musa! Are you not pleased with Me as their Sustainer and their Protector? He said: Of course, O Lord. You are the best Trustee and the best Protector.
