The Dictations · Hadith 296 (#Ḥadīth #17)

17 - حدثنا جعفر بن محمد بن مسرور (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا الحسين بن محمد بن عامر، عن عمه عبد الله بن عامر، عن محمد بن أبي عمير، عن أبان بن عثمان، عن أبان بن تغلب، عن عكرمة، عن ابن عباس، قال: إن أول درهم ودينار ضربا في الارض نظر إليهما إبليس، فلما عاينهما أخذهما فوضعهما على عينيه، ثم ضمهما إلى صدره، ثم صرخ صرخة، ثم ضمهما إلى صدره، ثم قال: أنتما قرة عيني وثمرة فؤادي، ما أبالي من بني آدم إذا أحبوكما أن لا يعبدوا وثنا، وحسبي من بني آدم أن يحبوكما (4).

Ja`far b. Muhammad b. Masrur narrated to us. He said: Al-Husayn b. Muhammad b. `Amer narrated to us from his uncle `Abdullah b. `Amer from Muhammad b. Abi `Umayr from Aban b. `Uthman from Aban b. Taghlub from `Ikrama from Ibn `Abbas. He said: When the first silver coin and gold coin hit the ground, Iblis looked to them. When he observed them, he took them and placed them on his eyes. Then, he embraced them to his chest. Then, he screamed. Then, he embraced them to his chest. Then, he said: You two are the joy of my eye and the fruit of my heart. I would not mind if the Children of Adam loved you instead of worshiping idols. For me, it is sufficient for the Children of Adam to love you.
