The Dictations · Hadith 376 (#Ḥadīth #9)

9 - وفي هذا اليوم أيضا بعد المجلس حدثنا الشيخ الفقيه أبو جعفر محمد بن علي بن الحسين بن موسى بن بابويه القمي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا أبي (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا عبد الله بن الحسن المؤدب، عن أحمد بن علي بن الاصبهاني، عن إبراهيم بن محمد الثقفي، قال: حدثنا أبو غسان النهدي، قال: حدثنا يحيى بن سلمة بن كهيل، عن أبيه، عن أبي إدريس، عن المسيب بن نجبة، عن علي (عليه السلام) أنه قيل له: حدثنا عن أصحاب محمد (صلى الله عليه وآله)، حدثنا عن أبي ذر الغفاري. قال: علم العلم ثم أوكاه، وربط عليه رباطا شديدا. قالوا: فعن حذيفة، قال: تعلم أسماء المنافقين. قالوا: فعن عمار بن ياسر. قال: مؤمن ملئ مشاشه إيمانا، نسي، إذا ذكر ذكر. قيل: فعن عبد الله بن مسعود. قال: قرأ القرآن فنزل عنده. قالوا: فحدثنا عن سلمان الفارسي. قال: أدرك العلم الاول والآخر، وهو بحر لا ينزح، وهو منا أهل البيت. قالوا: فحدثنا عنك، يا أمير المؤمنين. قال: كنت إذا سألت أعطيت، وإذا سكت ابتديت (3).

And on this day, after the Assembly, Abu Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali b. al-Husayn b. Musa b. Babuwayh al-Qummi narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to us. He said: `Abdullah b. al-Hasan al-Mu’addab narrated to us from Ahmad b. `Ali b. Isfahani from Ibrahim b. Muhammad al-Thaqafi. He said: Abu Ghassan al-Hindi narrated to us. He said: Yahya b. Salama b. Kuhayl narrated to us from his father from Abi Idris from al-Musayyib b. Najba from `Ali . It was said to him: The companions of Muhammad (s) narrated to us. It was narrated from Abi Dharr al-Ghifari that he said: Teach knowledge, then lean on it, and tie it tightly [to build a stable foundation]. They said: Hudhayfa said: Learn the names of the hypocrites. They said: `Ammar b. Yasir said: A believer who fills himself with faith forgets, but if he is reminded, he remembers. They said: `Abdullah b. Mas`ud said: He recited the Quran, for it was revealed in his presence. They said: Salman al-Farisi said: Seize knowledge from beginning to end, for it is a sea that does not dry out, and it is from us, the Ahl al-Bayt. They said: So, narrate to us, O Amir al-Mu’minin. He said: Whenever I asked, he would give me; and whenever I was silent, he would begin with me.
