The Dictations · Hadith 408 (#Ḥadīth #1)

- حدثنا الشيخ الفقيه أبو جعفر محمد بن علي بن الحسين بن موسى ابن بابويه القمي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن الحسن بن أحمد بن الوليد (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا الحسن بن متيل الدقاق، قال: حدثنا أحمد بن أبي عبد الله البرقي، عن أبيه، عن يونس بن عبد الرحمن، عن عبد الرحمن بن الحجاج، قال: سمعت الصادق (عليه السلام) يقول: من رأى أخاه على أمر يكرهه، فلم يرده عنه، وهو يقدر عليه، فقد خانه، ومن لم يجتنجب مصادقة الاحمق أوشك أن يتخلق بأخلاقه (1).

Abu Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali b. al-Husayn b. Musa b. Babuwayh al-Qummi narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Hasan b. Ahmad b. al-Walid narrated to us. He said: Al-Hasan b. Matil al-Daqaq narrated ot us. He said: Ahmad b. Abi `Abdillah al-Barqi narrated to us from his father from Yunus b. `Abd al-Rahman from `Abd al-Rahman b. al-Hajjaj. He said: I heard al-Sadiq say: Whoever sees his brother doing something he hates and does not turn him away from it when he is able to, then he has betrayed him. Whoever does not avoid friendship with a fool, then I suspect that he is of his character.
