The Dictations · Hadith 541 (#Ḥadīth #11)

11 - حدثنا الحسين بن أحمد بن إدريس (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا أبي، عن محمد بن الحسين بن أبي الخطاب، عن الحسين بن علوان، عن عمرو بن خالد، عن أبي الجارود زياد بن المنذر، قال: إني لجالس عند أبي جعفر محمد بن علي الباقر (عليه السلام) إذ أقبل زيد بن علي (عليه السلام)، فلما نظر إليه أبو جعفر (عليه السلام) وهو مقبل، قال: هذا سيد من أهل بيته، والطالب بأوتارهم، لقد أنجبت أم ولدتك يا زيد (4).

Al-Husayn b. Ahmad b. Idris narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to us from Muhammad b. al-Husayn b. Abi’l Khattab from al-Husayn b. `Ilwan from `Amr b. Khalid from Abi’l Jarud Zayd b. al-Mundhir. He said: I was sitting with Abi Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali al-Baqir when Zayd b. `Ali came forward. When Abu Ja`far looked to him as he came, he said: This is a master (sayyid) from his Ahl al-Bayt and the seeker of their vengeance. Your mother has given birth to a pure son, Zayd.
