The Dictations · Hadith 654 (#Ḥadīth #1)

1 - حدثنا الشيخ الجليل أبو جعفر محمد بن علي بن الحسين بن موسى ابن بابويه القمي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثني أبي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا سعد بن عبد الله، قال: حدثنا أحمد بن محمد بن عيسى، عن الحسين بن سعيد، عن حماد بن عيسى، عن إبراهيم بن عمر اليماني، عن أبي الطفيل، عن أبي جعفر محمد بن علي الباقر (عليهما السلام)، عن آبائه (عليهم السلام)، قال: قال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) لامير المؤمنين (عليه السلام): اكتب ما أملي عليك. فقال: يا نبي الله، أتخاف علي النسيان؟ فقال (صلى الله عليه وآله): لست أخاف عليك النسيان، وقد دعوت الله لك أن يحفظك ولا ينسيك، ولكن اكتب لشركائك. قال: قلت: ومن شركائي، يا نبي الله؟ قال: الائمة من ولدك، بهم تسقى أمتي الغيث، وبهم يستجاب دعاؤهم، وبهم يصرف الله عنهم البلاء، وبهم ينزل الرحمة من السماء، وهذا أولهم. وأومى بيده إلى الحسن بن علي (عليه السلام)، ثم أومى بيده إلى الحسين (عليه السلام)، ثم قال: الائمة من ولده (1).

Abu Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali b. al-Husayn b. Musa b. Babuwayh al-Qummi narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to me. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Muhammad b. `Isa narrated to us from al-Husayn b. Sa`id from Hammad b. `Isa from Ibrahim b. `Umar al-Yamani from Abi’l Tufayl from Abi Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali al-Baqir from his forefathers . He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said to Amir al-Mu’minin : “Write what I will dictate to you.” He said: “O Prophet of Allah! Do you fear that I may forget?” So, he (s) said: “I do not fear that you will forget, because I have prayed to Allah that He may protect you from forgetfulness. Rather, write for your partners.” He said: I said: “Who are my partners, O Prophet of Allah?” He said: “The Imams from your loins, by whom my Nation will receive rain, by whom their supplications will be answered, by whom Allah will ward of their calamities, by whom mercy will descend from the heavens, and he is the first of them.” And he pointed to al-Hasan with his hand. Then, he pointed to al-Husayn with his hand and said: “The Imams are from his loins.”
