The Dictations · Hadith 784 (#Ḥadīth #2)

2 - حدثنا محمد بن الحسن بن أحمد بن الوليد (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن الحسن الصفار، قال: حدثنا أحمد بن عيسى، عن الحسن بن علي بن فضال، عن مروان بن مسلم، قال: قال أبو عبد الله جعفر بن محمد الصادق (عليه السلام): حدثني أبي، عن آبائه (عليهم السلام)، عن رسول الله (صلى الله عليه واله)، قال: قال الله جل جلاله: أيما عبد أطاعني لم أكله إلى غيري، وأيما عبد عصاني وكلته إلى نفسه، ثم لم أبال في أي واد هلك (1).

Muhammad b. al-Hasan b. Ahmad b. al-Walid narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Hasan al-Saffar narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. `Isa from al-Hasan b. `Ali b. Faddal from Marwan b. Muslim. He said: Abu `Abdillah Ja`far b. Muhammad al-Sadiq said: My father narrated to me from his forefathers from the Messenger of Allah (s). He said: Allah said: When a servant obeys Me, I do not assign him to one other than Me. When a servant disobeys Me, I assign him to himself, then I do not care which valley he perishes in.
