The Dictations · Hadith 807 (#Ḥadīth #9)

9 - حدثنا علي بن عبد الله الوراق، قال: حدثنا سعد بن عبد الله، عن محمد بن عبد الجبار، عن محمد بن إسماعيل بن بزيع، عن محمد بن أبي عمير، عن هشام بن سالم، عن أبي عبد الله الصادق جعفر بن محمد (عليه السلام)، قال: قال بعض أصحاب النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله) للنبي: يا رسول الله، ما بالنا نجد بأولادنا ما لا يجدون بنا؟ فقال: لانهم منكم، ولستم منهم (4).

`Ali b. `Abdullah al-Warraq narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to us from Muhammad b. Abd al-Jabbar from Muhammad b. Isma`il b. Bazi` from Muhammad b. Abi `Umayr from Hisham b. Salim from Abi `Abdillah al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad . He said: One of the companions of the Prophet (s) said to the Prophet: O Messenger of Allah! Why do we find [characteristics] in our children that we do not find in ourselves? So, he said: Because they are from you, and you are not from them.
