The Dictations · Hadith 825 (#Ḥadīth #1)

1 - حدثنا الشيخ الجليل أبو جعفر محمد بن علي بن الحسين بن موسى ابن بابويه القمي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا أبي (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا سعد بن عبد الله، قال: حدثنا محمد بن الحسين بن أبي الخطاب، قال: حدثنا علي بن أسباط، قال سمعت علي بن موسى الرضا (عليه السلام) يحدث عن أبيه عن آبائه (عليهم السلام) أن رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) قال: لم يبق من أمثال الانبياء إلا قول الناس: إذا لم تستحي فاصنع ما شئت (1).

Abu Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali b. al-Husayn b. Musa b. Babuwayh al-Qummi narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Husayn b. Abi’l Khattab narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Asbat narrated to us. He said: I heard `Ali b. Musa al-Rida narrate from his father from his forefathers that the Messenger of Allah (s) said: None of the proverbs of the prophets remain except the saying of the people: “If you feel no shame, then do what you wish.”
