The Dictations · Hadith 949 (#Ḥadīth #3)

3 - حدثنا أبي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثني سعد بن عبد الله، قال: حدثني الهيثم بن أبي مسروق النهدي، عن الحسن بن محبوب، عن عبد الله بن سنان، عن أبي عبد الله الصادق جعفر بن محمد (عليه السلام)، قال: أوحى الله عزوجل إلى داود (عليه السلام): أن العبد من عبادي ليأتيني بالحسنة فأبيحه جنتي. قال: فقال داود (عليه السلام): يا رب، وما تلك الحسنة؟ قال: يدخل على عبدي المؤمن سرورا ولو بتمرة. قال: فقال داود (عليه السلام): حق لمن عرفك أن لا يقطع رجاءه (1) منك (2).

My father narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to me. He said: Al-Haytham b. Abi Masruq al-Nahdi narrated to me from al-Hasan b. Mahbub from `Abdullah b. Sinan from Abi `Abdillah al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad . He said: Allah revealed to Dawud : A servant from My servants may perform a deed for which I will gift him My Paradise. He said: So, Dawud said: O Lord! What is that deed? He said: Bringing happiness into My believing servant, even if by giving him a date. He said: So, Dawud said: The right of one who recognizes You is that he never loses hope in You.
