The Dictations · Hadith 970 (#Ḥadīth #8)

8 - حدثنا حمزة بن محمد بن أحمد بن جعفر بن محمد بن زيد بن علي ابن الحسين بن علي بن أبي طالب (عليهم السلام)، قال: أخبرني علي بن إبراهيم بن هاشم سنة سبع وثلاثمائة، قال: حدثنا أبي، قال: حدثنا محمد بن أبي عمير، عن حفص بن البختري، عن الصادق جعفر بن محمد، عن أبيه، عن جده (عليهم السلام)، قال: وقع بين سلمان الفارسي (رحمه الله) وبين رجل كلام وخصومة، فقال له الرجل: من أنت يا سلمان؟ فقال سلمان: أما أولي وأولك فنطفة قذرة، وأما آخري وآخرك فجيفة منتنة، فإذا كان يوم القيامة ووضعت الموازين، فمن ثقل ميزانه فهو الكريم، ومن خف ميزانه فهو اللئيم (1).

Hamza b. Muhammad b. Ahmad b. Ja`far b. Muhammad b. Zayd b. `Ali b. al-Husayn b. `Ali b. Abi Talib narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Ibrahim b. Hashim informed me in 307 AH. He said: My father narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Abi `Umayr narrated to us from Hafs b. al-Bakhtari from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from his grandfather . He said: Salman al-Farisi was quarrelling with a man. So, the man said to him: Who are you, Salman? So, Salman said: As for my beginning and your beginning, it was an impure sperm. As for my end and your end, it will be a rotting corpse. On the Day of Resurrection, when the scales are placed, the one whose scale is heavy will be noble, and the one whose scale is light will be depraved.
