The Dictations · Hadith 993 (#Ḥadīth #1)

1 - حدثنا الشيخ الجليل أبو جعفر محمد بن علي بن الحسين بن موسى ابن بابويه القمي (رضي الله عنه)، في دار السيد أبي محمد، قال: حدثنا إبراهيم بن إسحاق الطالقاني (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا أبو أحمد عبد العزيز بن يحيى بن أحمد بن عيسى الجلودي البصري بالبصرة سنة سبع عشرة وثلاث مائة، قال: حدثنا الحسين بن حميد، قال: حدثنا يحيى بن عبد الحميد الحماني، قال: حدثنا قيس بن الربيع، عن الاعمش، عن عباية بن ربعي، عن ابن عباس، قال: قال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): إن الله عزوجل قسم الخلق قسمين: فجعلني في خيرهما قسمة، وذلك قوله عزوجل في ذكر أصحاب اليمين وأصحاب الشمال، وأنا من أصحاب اليمين، وأنا خير أصحاب اليمين، ثم جعل القسمين أثلاثا، فجعلني في خيرها ثلثا، وذلك قوله عزوجل: (فأصحاب الميمنة ما أصحاب الميمنة * وأصحاب المشئمة ما أصحاب المشئمة * والسابقون السابقون) (1)، وأنا من السابقين، وأنا خير السابقين، ثم جعل الا ثلاث قبائل، فجعلني في خيرها قبيلة، وذلك قوله عزوجل: (وجعلناكم شعوبا وقبائل لتعارفوا إن أكرمكم عند الله أتقاكم) (1)، فأنا أتقى ولد آدم وأكرمهم على الله جل ثناؤه ولا فخر، ثم جعل القبائل بيوتا، فجعلني في خيرها بيتا، وذلك قوله عز وجل: (إنما يريد الله ليذهب عنكم الرجس أهل البيت ويطهركم تطهيرا) (2).

Abu Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ai b. al-Husayn b. Musa b. Babuwayh narrated to us in the house of Sayyid Abi Muhammad. He said: Ibrahim b. Ishaq al-Talaqani narrated to us. He said: Abu Ahmad `Abd al-`Aziz b. Yahya b. Ahmad b. `Isa al-Juludi al-Basri narrated to us in Basra in 317 AH. He said: Al-Husayn b. Humayd narrated to us. He said: Yahya b. `Abd al-Hamid al-Hamani narrated to us. He said: Qays b. al-Rabi` narrated to us from al-A`mash from `Abaya b. Rabi`i from Ibn `Abbas. He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Allah divided the creation into two parts, and he put me in the better part. That is His saying with regards to the companions of the right and the companions of the left – I am from the companions of the right, and I am the best of the companions of the right. Then, He made the two parts into thirds, and He put me in the better third. That is His saying, “The companions of the right, how blessed will they be. The companions of the left, how miserable will they be. The foremost will be the foremost” (56:8-10). I am from the foremost, and I am the best of the foremost. Then, He made the three into tribes, and He put me in the best tribe. That is His saying, “We made you into nations and tribes so that you may recognize. Surely, the noblest of you in the sight of Allah are the most Godfearing of you.” (49:13) I am the most Godfearing of the descendants of Adam, and I am the noblest of them in the sight of Allah – and I do not boast. Then, He made the tribes into families, and He put me in the best of families. That is His saying, “Allah only desires to keep the uncleanness away from you, O people of the House, and to purify you with a thorough purification” (33:33)
