Chapter 110 | Punishment of adulterer and adulteress

وَ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُکَیْرٍ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِأَبِی جَعْفَرٍ ع فِی قَوْلِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص إِذَا زَنَی الرَّجُلُ فَارَقَهُ رُوحُ الْإِیمَانِ قَالَ قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَی وَ أَیَّدَهُمْ بِرُوحٍ مِنْهُ ذَلِکَ الَّذِی یُفَارِقُهُ.

8. And from the previous chain from Ahmad b. Abi Abdillah from Ibn Fadhal from Abdillah b. Bukayr who said: The narrator asked Imam Muhammad Baqir , “What is meant by the saying of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.): When a person commits fornication, the soul of faith is taken away from him?” Imam replied, “The soul separated from him is the same that is discussed in this verse: We granted them piety through this soul.”
