The Rewards & Punishments of Deeds · Hadith 288 (#Ḥadīth #1)

أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِیسَی عَنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ سَعِیدٍ عَنْ فَضَالَهَ بْنِ أَیُّوبَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنِ ابْنِ مُسْکَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی إِبْرَاهِیمُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّی قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِأَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع إِنِّی قَدِ اشْتَدَّ عَلَیَّ صَوْمُ ثَلَاثَهِ أَیَّامٍ فِی کُلِّ شَهْرٍ فَمَا یُجْزِی عَنِّی أَنْ أَتَصَدَّقَ مَکَانَ کُلِّ یَوْمٍ أَ یَکْفِی أَتَصَدَّقُ بِدِرْهَمٍ فَقَالَ صَدَقَهُ دِرْهَمٍ أَفْضَلُ مِنْ صِیَامِ یَوْمٍ.

1. My father said: it was narrated to us by Sa’d b. Abdillah who said it was narrated to us by Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Isa from al-Hussain b. Sa’eed from Fadhalah b. Ayoob’ from al-Hassan b. Uthman from Ibn Muskan who said it was narrated to me by Ibrahim b. al-Muthana who said: The narrator asked Imam Ja’far Sadiq , “It is difficult for me to fast for three days every month. Is it enough that I give one dirham in charity for every fast?” Imam replied, “Giving a dirham in charity is better than fasting for a day.”
