The Rewards & Punishments of Deeds · Hadith 826 (#Ḥadīth #2)

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَی بْنِ الْمُتَوَکِّلِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَیْنِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ أَبَانٍ عَنِ الْمُفَضَّلِ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: مَنِ ادَّعَی الْإِمَامَهَ وَ لَیْسَ مِنْ أَهْلِهَا فَهُوَ کَافِرٌ.

2. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Musa b. al-Mutawakil who said it was narrated to me by Abdillah b. Ja’far from Muhammad b. al-Hussain from al-Hassan b. Mahbub from Aban from al-Muffadhal from Abi Abdillah who said: “A person who claims to be an Imam while he is not, is an infidel.”
