Chapter 18 | Punishment of the proud
حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَی بْنِ الْمُتَوَکِّلِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی عَلِیُّ بْنُ الْحُسَیْنِ السَّعْدَآبَادِیُّ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ عَنْ سَعِیدِ بْنِ جَنَاحٍ عَنْ حُسَیْنِ بْنِ مُخْتَارٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: ثَلَاثَهٌ لَا یَنْظُرُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ إِلَیْهِمْ الثَّانِی عِطْفَهُ وَ الْمُسْبِلُ إِزَارَهُ خُیَلَاءَ وَ الْمُنَفِّقُ سِلْعَتَهُ بِالْأَیْمَانِ إِنَّ الْکِبْرِیَاءَ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِینَ.
3. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Musa b. al-Mutawakil who said it was narrated to me by Ali b. al-Hussain al-Sa’dabadi from Ahmad b. Abi Abdillah from Mansur b. al-Abbas from Sa’eed b. Janah from Hussain b. Mukhtar from Abi Abdillah who said: “The Almighty Allah will not have mercy on three types of people – the proud, one whose dress of pride sweeps the ground and one who swears in order to sell things. Surely pride is only for the Lord of the Worlds.”
