The Rewards & Punishments of Deeds · Hadith 997 (#Ḥadīth #1)

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِیٍّ مَاجِیلَوَیْهِ عَنْ عَمِّهِ عَنْ هَارُونَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ مَسْعَدَهَ بْنِ زِیَادٍ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ع أَنَّ عَلِیّاً ع قَالَ: إِنَّ فِی جَهَنَّمَ رَحًی تَطْحَنُ أَ فَلَا تَسْأَلُونِّی مَا طَحِینُهَا فَقِیلَ وَ مَا طَحِینُهَا یَا أَمِیرَ الْمُؤْمِنِینَ فَقَالَ الْعُلَمَاءُ الْفَجَرَهُ وَ الْقُرَّاءُ الْفَسَقَهُ وَ الْجَبَابِرَهُ الظَّلَمَهُ وَ الْوُزَرَاءُ الْخَوَنَهُ وَ الْعُرَفَاءُ الْکَذَبَهُ وَ إِنَّ فِی النَّارِ لَمَدِینَهً یُقَالُ الْحَصِینَهُ أَ وَ لَا تَسْأَلُونِّی مَا فِیهَا فَقِیلَ لَهُ وَ مَا فِیهَا یَا أَمِیرَ الْمُؤْمِنِینَ قَالَ فِیهَا بَعْضُ أَیْدِی النَّاکِثِینَ.

1. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Ali Majluwayh from his uncle from Harun b. Muslim from Mas’ada b. Ziyad from Ja’far b. Muhammad that Ali who said: “There is a punishment in Hell which horrifies everyone. Won’t you ask about that calamity?” It was asked: “O Amirul Momineen what calamity is it?” Imam replied, “They include a sinful scholar, a hypocrite reciter of Quran, a corrupt minister, false scholars and promise- breakers. There is a city named Hasiniya in Hell and won’t you inquire what is there in that city?” It was asked: “O Amirul Momineen what is there in it?” He replied, “It will contain the hands of those who break promises.”
