Chapter 10 | On The Reasons why Ali ibn Musa Ar-Ridha accepted the succession to the throne from Al-Ma’mun, what Went On, those who were displeased and those who were pleased
40-4 Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Imran al-Daqqaq - may God be pleased with him - narrated that Muhammad ibn Abi Abdullah al-Kufi quoted on the authority of Muhammad ibn Isma’il al-Barmaki, on the authority of Muhammad ibn Arafat that he asked Ar-Ridha’ , “O son of the Prophet of God! What forced you to accept the succession to the throne?” The Imam replied, “The same thing which forced my grandfather the Commander of the Faithful to join the arbItraion council.”
