وُلِدَ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ مُوسَى بِالابْوَاءِ سَنَةَ ثَمَانٍ وَعِشْرِينَ وَمِائَةٍ وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ تِسْعٍ وَعِشْرِينَ وَمِائَةٍ وَقُبِضَ لِسِتٍّ خَلَوْنَ مِنْ رَجَبٍ مِنْ سَنَةِ ثَلاثٍ وَثَمَانِينَ وَمِائَةٍ وَهُوَ ابْنُ أَرْبَعٍ أَوْ خَمْسٍ وَخَمْسِينَ سَنَةً وَقُبِضَ بِبَغْدَادَ فِي حَبْسِ السِّنْدِيِّ بْنِ شَاهَكَ وَكَانَ هَارُونُ حَمَلَهُ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ لِعَشْرِ لَيَالٍ بَقِينَ مِنْ شَوَّالٍ سَنَةَ تِسْعٍ وَسَبْعِينَ وَمِائَةٍ وَقَدْ قَدِمَ هَارُونُ الْمَدِينَةَ مُنْصَرَفَهُ مِنْ عُمْرَةِ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ ثُمَّ شَخَصَ هَارُونُ إِلَى الْحَجِّ وَحَمَلَهُ مَعَهُ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ عَلَى طَرِيقِ الْبَصْرَةِ فَحَبَسَهُ عِنْدَ عِيسَى بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ ثُمَّ أَشْخَصَهُ إِلَى بَغْدَادَ فَحَبَسَهُ عِنْدَ السِّنْدِيِّ بْنِ شَاهَكَ فَتُوُفِّيَ فِي حَبْسِهِ وَدُفِنَ بِبَغْدَادَ فِي مَقْبَرَةِ قُرَيْشٍ وَأُمُّهُ أُمُّ وَلَدٍ يُقَالُ لَهَا حَمِيدَةُ.

Abu al-Hassan Musa was born in Abwa’ in the year one hundred twenty eight AH. Certain historians have said that it to be the year one hundred twenty six. He passed away on the sixth of the month of Rajab in the year one hundred eighty six at the age of fifty four of fifty five in Baghdad in the prison of al-Sindi ibn Shahik. Haarun has summoned him from Madina on twentieth of the month of Shawwal in the year one hundred seventy nine. Harun went to Madina on his way back from ‘Umra (pilgrimage to Makka) in the month of Ramadan. Thereafter Harum went for hHajj and took abu al-Hassan Musa ibn Ja‘far with him to Baghdad. He then imprisoned him in the control of al-Sindi ibn Shahik and in his prison he died. He was buried in Baghdad ingrave yard of Quraysh. His mother was ’Umm walad, called Hamida.”
