The Sufficient (Vol 2) · Hadith 1303 (#Ḥadīth #1)

1ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ النَّوْفَلِيِّ عَنِ السَّكُونِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) الْغِيبَةُ أَسْرَعُ فِي دِينِ الرَّجُلِ الْمُسْلِمِ مِنَ الأكِلَةِ فِي جَوْفِهِ قَالَ وَقَالَ رَسُولُ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) الْجُلُوسُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ انْتِظَارَ الصَّلاةِ عِبَادَةٌ مَا لَمْ يُحْدِثْ قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ الله وَمَا يُحْدِثُ قَالَ الإغْتِيَابَ.

1. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from al-Nawfali from al-Sakuni from Abu ‘Abdillah who has said the following: “The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘Backbiting destroys the religion of a person faster than an internal cancerous disease.’ “The Imam has also said, ‘The Messenger of Allah has said, “Sitting in the mosque is worship as long as it does not happen.” He was asked, ‘O Messenger of Allah, ‘What has not happened?’ He said, ‘Backbiting.’”
