The Sufficient (Vol 2) · Hadith 174 (#Ḥadīth #4)

4ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ شَاذَانَ جَمِيعاً عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ إِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ يَقُومُ عُنُقٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ فَيَأْتُونَ بَابَ الْجَنَّةِ فَيَضْرِبُونَهُ فَيُقَالُ لَهُمْ مَنْ أَنْتُمْ فَيَقُولُونَ نَحْنُ أَهْلُ الصَّبْرِ فَيُقَالُ لَهُمْ عَلَى مَا صَبَرْتُمْ فَيَقُولُونَ كُنَّا نَصْبِرُ عَلَى طَاعَةِ الله وَنَصْبِرُ عَنْ مَعَاصِي الله فَيَقُولُ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ صَدَقُوا أَدْخِلُوهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ وَهُوَ قَوْلُ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِنَّما يُوَفَّى الصَّابِرُونَ أَجْرَهُمْ بِغَيْرِ حِسابٍ.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father and Muhammad ibn Isma’il from Fadl ibn Shadhan all from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Hisham ibn al-Hakam from Abu ‘Abdillah who has said the following: “On the Day of Judgment certain people raise their necks, approach the door of paradise and knock on it. They then will be asked, ‘Who are you?’ They will say, ‘We are the people of patience.’ They will then be asked, ‘In what matters did you exercise patience?’ They will answer, ‘We exercised patience in obeying Allah and against disobedience to Allah.’ Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, will say, ‘They have spoken the truth, allow them to enter into paradise. ’ This is in the words of Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, ‘It is those who exercise patience that receive their reward without being asked to clear any accounts.’” (39:10)
