Chapter 49 | Prayer Before Sleeping and After Waking Up

4ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ جَمِيلِ بْنِ دَرَّاجٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَرْوَانَ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) أَ لا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِمَا كَانَ رَسُولُ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) يَقُولُ إِذَا أَوَى إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ قُلْتُ بَلَى قَالَ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ آيَةَ الْكُرْسِيِّ وَيَقُولُ بِسْمِ الله آمَنْتُ بِالله وَكَفَرْتُ بِالطَّاغُوتِ اللهمَّ احْفَظْنِي فِي مَنَامِي وَفِي يَقَظَتِي.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Jamil ibn Darraj from Muhammad ibn Marwan who has said the following: “Once Abu ‘Abdillah said, ‘Should I tell you about what the Messenger of Allah would say when going to his bed?’ I said, ‘Yes, please do so.’ The Imam said, ‘He would read verse 255 of Chapter two and say, “(I begin) in the name of Allah, I believe in Allah, and reject the devil. O Lord, protect me in my sleep and when I am awake.’”
