Chapter 53 | Supplications for Sustenance

6ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي دَاوُدَ عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ الله إِنِّي ذُو عِيَالٍ وَعَلَيَّ دَيْنٌ وَقَدِ اشْتَدَّتْ حَالِي فَعَلِّمْنِي دُعَاءً أَدْعُو الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِهِ لِيَرْزُقَنِي مَا أَقْضِي بِهِ دَيْنِي وَأَسْتَعِينُ بِهِ عَلَى عِيَالِي فَقَالَ رَسُولُ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) يَا عَبْدَ الله تَوَضَّأْ وَأَسْبِغْ وُضُوءَكَ ثُمَّ صَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ تُتِمُّ الرُّكُوعَ وَالسُّجُودَ ثُمَّ قُلْ يَا مَاجِدُ يَا وَاحِدُ يَا كَرِيمُ يَا دَائِمُ أَتَوَجَّهُ إِلَيْكَ بِمُحَمَّدٍ نَبِيِّكَ نَبِيِّ الرَّحْمَةِ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) يَا مُحَمَّدُ يَا رَسُولَ الله إِنِّي أَتَوَجَّهُ بِكَ إِلَى الله رَبِّكَ وَرَبِّي وَرَبِّ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَأَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ وَأَسْأَلُكَ نَفْحَةً كَرِيمَةً مِنْ نَفَحَاتِكَ وَفَتْحاً يَسِيراً وَرِزْقاً وَاسِعاً أَلُمُّ بِهِ شَعْثِي وَأَقْضِي بِهِ دَيْنِي وَأَسْتَعِينُ بِهِ عَلَى عِيَالِي.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn abu Dawud from abu Hamza from abu Ja’far who has said the following: “Once a man came to the Holy Prophet and said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, I am a person with a family, indebted and my condition has turned into difficulty. Instinct me with a supplication with which I can pray to Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, so He will grant me sustenance to pay my debts and help my family.’ The Messenger of Allah said, ‘O servant of Allah, complete a Wuzu properly, then make a two Rak’at prayer performing complete Ruku ’ and prostration then say, “O the Exalted one, O the only One, O Munificent (eternal), I have turned to You through Muhammad your Prophet, the Prophet of blessings. O Muhammad, O Messenger of Allah, I ask through you from Allah, your Lord and my Lord and the Lord of all things, to grant al-Salat (favors) upon Muhammad and his family, and beg You for a noble relief from Your relief, an easy felicity, a vast sustenance, to place together my chaotic conditions, pay my debts and help my family.
