2. And from him (Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid) from his father from Hammad ibn ‘Isa in a marfu' manner to Amir al-Mu’minin that Rasulullah ﷺ said: "I will teach you a supplication (dua) that will make you not forget the Qur'an: 'Oh Allah have mercy on me by abstaining [me] from your disobedience for as long as you keep me [alive]. Have mercy on me from the burden of what does not concern me. Grant me a good outlook of that which will make you pleased with me. Hold my heart to memorising your scripture as you have taught [it to] me. Grant me [the ability] to recite it in a way that makes You pleased of me. Oh Allah, give light, with your scripture, to my vision and open my chest with it. Make my heart rejoice with it, loosen my tongue with it, free my tongue for it, make my body work for it, strengthen me for that and assist me upon it. Indeed, there is no helper for it except You. There is no god but You.' And some of our companions have narrated it from Walid ibn Sabih from Hafs al-'Awar from Abi 'Abdillah (al-Sadiq) .
