The Sufficient (Vol 3) · Hadith 1118 (#Ḥadīth #3)

3ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ حَمَّادٍ عَنِ الْحَلَبِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يَكُونُ مَعَ الإِمَامِ فَيَمُرُّ بِالْمَسْأَلَةِ أَوْ بِآيَةٍ فِيهَا ذِكْرُ جَنَّةٍ أَوْ نَارٍ قَالَ لاَ بَأْسَ بِأَنْ يَسْأَلَ عِنْدَ ذَلِكَ وَيَتَعَوَّذَ فِي الصَّلاَةِ مِنَ النَّارِ وَيَسْأَلَ الله الْجَنَّةَ.

3. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Hammad from al-Halabiy who has said the following: “I asked abu ‘Abd Allah , ‘What should a man who performs Salah (prayer) with an Imam do if they come across a verse that speaks of paradise or fire?’ The Imam said, ‘In such case (during prayer) he may ask Allah for protection against fire or for admission in paradise.’”
