Chapter 5 | Grains Subject to Zakat
2ـ حَرِيزٌ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) مِثْلَهُ وَقَالَ كُلُّ مَا كِيلَ بِالصَّاعِ فَبَلَغَ الأوْسَاقَ فَعَلَيْهِ الزَّكَاةُ وَقَالَ جَعَلَ رَسُولُ الله (صلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) الصَّدَقَةَ فِي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ أَنْبَتَتِ الأرْضُ إِلاَّ مَا كَانَ فِي الْخُضَرِ وَالْبُقُولِ وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ يَفْسُدُ مِنْ يَوْمِهِ.
2. Hariz has narrated from Zurarah who has narrated a similar Hadith from abu ‘Abd Allah who has said that whatever is measured with al-Sa‘ and it amounts to al-Awsaq (a certain unit of measurement) then it becomes subject to Zakat.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘The Messenger of Allah made charity (Zakat) obligatory on everything that earth grows except vegetable, legumes and things that perish on the same day.’” H 5738, Ch. 5, h 3
