The Sufficient (Vol 3) · Hadith 2161 (#Ḥadīth #3)

3ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي نَصْرٍ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ لأَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) الرَّجُلُ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا يَسْتَحْيِي أَنْ يَأْخُذَ مِنَ الزَّكَاةِ فَأُعْطِيهِ مِنَ الزَّكَاةِ وَلاَ أُسَمِّي لَهُ أَنَّهَا مِنَ الزَّكَاةِ فَقَالَ أَعْطِهِ وَلاَ تُسَمِّ لَهُ وَلاَ تُذِلَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ.

3. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn abu Nasr from ‘Asem from Humayd from abu Basir who has said the following: “I once asked abu Ja‘far , about a man of our people who is a deserving beneficiary of Zakat but feels shy to accept Zakat. Can I pay him Zakat without mentioning that it is Zakat?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Pay him and do not mention and you must not humiliate the believer.”’
