Chapter 9 | Dictations to a Dying Person
2ـ عَنْهُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) وَحَفْصِ بْنِ الْبَخْتَرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ تُلَقِّنُونَ مَوْتَاكُمْ عِنْدَ الْمَوْتِ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ الله وَنَحْنُ نُلَقِّنُ مَوْتَانَا مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ الله (صلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه).

It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from abu Ayyub from Muhammad ibn Muslim from Abu Ja’far, and from Hafs ibn al-Bakhtariy who said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah , has said that you should dictate to your dying people, ‘Only Allah is the Lord to be worshipped.’ We, however, (in addition) dictate to our dying people, ‘Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.’”
