The Sufficient (Vol 3) · Hadith 671 (#Ḥadīth #3)

3ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ النَّوْفَلِيِّ عَنِ السَّكُونِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ الله (صلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) خَيْرُ الصُّفُوفِ فِي الصَّلاَةِ الْمُقَدَّمُ وَخَيْرُ الصُّفُوفِ فِي الْجَنَائِزِ الْمُؤَخَّرُ قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ الله وَلِمَ قَالَ صَارَ سُتْرَةً لِلنِّسَاءِ.

3. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from al-Nawfaliy from al-Sakuniy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah , has said, that the Messenger of Allah has said, ‘The best row in Salah (prayer) is the first row but the best row in Salah (prayer) for dead bodies is the last one.’ It was asked, ‘Why is it so, O Messenger of Allah?’ He (the Messenger of Allah) said, ‘It is a curtain for women.’”
