The Sufficient (Vol 3) · Hadith 708 (#Ḥadīth #3)

3ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ كَبَّرَ رَسُولُ الله (صلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) عَلَى حَمْزَةَ سَبْعِينَ تَكْبِيرَةً وَكَبَّرَ عَلِيٌّ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) عِنْدَكُمْ عَلَى سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ خَمْسَةً وَعِشْرِينَ تَكْبِيرَةً قَالَ كَبَّرَ خَمْساً خَمْساً كُلَّمَا أَدْرَكَهُ النَّاسُ قَالُوا يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لَمْ نُدْرِكِ الصَّلاَةَ عَلَى سَهْلٍ فَيَضَعُهُ فَيُكَبِّرُ عَلَيْهِ خَمْساً حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَى قَبْرِهِ خَمْسَ مَرَّاتٍ.

3. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id from al-Qasim ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn abu Hamzah from abu Basir from who has said the following: “Abu Ja‘far , has said, ‘The Messenger of Allah in Salah (prayer) for Hamzah said seventy Takbir and ’Amir al-Mu’minin) Ali said twenty five Takbir in Salah (prayer) for Sahl ibn Hunayf. He (the Imam) said, ‘Each time ’Amir al-Mu’minin said five Takbir as new people arrived saying that we did not have a chance to attend Salah (prayer) for him so ’Amir al-Mu’minin would ask to place him on the ground and he (the Imam) say five Takbir until he arrived to his grave.’”
