The Sufficient (Vol 3) · Hadith 953 (#Ḥadīth #24)

24ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنِ الْمُفَضَّلِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ عَنْ زَيْدٍ الشَّحَّامِ قَالَ سُئِلَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) عَنْ مَلَكِ الْمَوْتِ يُقَالُ الأرْضُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ كَالْقَصْعَةِ يَمُدُّ يَدَهُ مِنْهَا حَيْثُ يَشَاءُ قَالَ نَعَمْ.

24. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ‘Amr ibn ‘Uthaman from al-Mufaddal ibn Salih from Zayd al-Shahham who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah , was asked about the angel of death saying, ‘Is it true, as it is said that he observes the whole earth like a bowl on his palm and stretches his hand to it as he likes?’ He replied, ‘Yes, that is true.’”
