The Sufficient (Vol 5) · Hadith 1690 (#Ḥadīth #3)

3- عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي نَصْرٍ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ يَقُولُ لا رَضَاعَ بَعْدَ فِطَامٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ وَمَا الْفِطَامُ قَالَ الْحَوْلانِ اللَّذَانِ قَالَ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَ.

3. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn abu Nasr from Hammad ibn ‘Uthaman who has said the following: “I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah , saying, ‘Breastfeeding after weaning is not effective.’ I then said, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, what is al-Fatam (weaning)?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is the two years that Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, has mentioned (in His book).’ (2:233)”
